Vino Nobile from Montepulciano goes in the Museum. Vino Nobile from Montepulciano is a special red wine, one of the jewels of Tuscany, dating back in Etruscan age. It is protected with a Docg (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita) and appreciated worldwide since its production has been developed in the sixties.
Sangiovese, here called Prugnolo Gentile (70%), and Canaiolo Nero (20%) are the two grape varieties combined in this superb wine.
Today Montepulciano opens the doors of its main museum – Pinacoteca Crociani, to the world of wine. From February 18th the museum will become a theatre and a meeting point between producers and consumers of Vino Nobile.
30 companies will display their specialities, experts, journalists and gourmet from around the world will elect what will be the protagonists in local wine’s production.
The Museum is a really fascinating place for this event. You will drink wine in the middle of archaeological finds and really rare works. Montepulciano is a very rich cultural area where the history of the community, since its remote origin, is intertwined with that of agricultural production. Here the relationship between wine and art is strong and well established.

Moreover, places like Val di Chiana are really open air archaeological museum that connect history with agricultural activities.
Montepulciano is famous around the world for its special Cantiere Internazionale d’Arte, a big artistic workshop going on in summertime. It involves mainly musicians but also dancers, poets and visual artists. Dating back in the Seventies, International Art Yard, is one of the first art symposium in Europe for music, dance, prose that takes place every year, including a big hospitality message.
Artists come here early to develop their performances and they are special guests. The whole population of Montepulciano participates helping ni different ways: opening their houses or offering their creative support to the artists.
