Florence Korea Film Fest 2010 (12 – 20 March)

Florence Korea Film Fest 2010. Korea is back to Florence, with its creative production. This year the Florence Korea Film FestFestival of South Korean Cinema in Italy comes to its eighth edition. It will open from 12th to 20th March 2010, displaying Korea from cinema to music and horror culture.

The festival is organized by Taegukgi, an association conducted by Riccardo Gelli, artistic director that this year presents a large retrospective with the whole work of Hur Jin-ho, who directed some of the most successful horror films in Korea.

Keeping high attention on independent filmakers, the festival focuses on most recent award-winning works, but also it offers latest masterpiece from Park Chan-wook.

Four locations are provided this year: Odeon Cinema, Biblioteca delle Oblate, Ex 3 and Palazzo Strozzi, offering each one a different perspective related to the set.

The Festival is made with the contribution of the Tuscany Region, Tuscany Regional Media Film Commission, Provincia di Firenze, Comune di Firenze, Department of Culture of the Municipality of Florence, JIFF – Jeonju International Film Festival, PIFF – Pusan International Film Festival, KOFIC – Korean Film Council, Ministry of Culture and Tourism Republic of South Korea.

On Friday March 5th an inaugural event at Oblate’s Library (via dell’Oriuolo, 26), a tasty preview of the Korean Film Festival, with a rich cocktail, starting from 8pm. The entire evening (free entry) will be enlivened by the music of Korean dj Oh you-suk.

On Saturday March 20th, another parallel event at EX3: Loveholics in concert. This famous Korean pop band band will play for the first time in Italy.

Their song ‘Shinkirou’ was used as the ending song for the Japanese anime Black Blood Brothers. Loveholics are also well known for their soundtracks of many Korean films. After the show K-Party – Korean Film Party, a dance hall with sounds that mix Korean and Italian culture.
